WOONSOCKET - Every Sunday from Aug. 24 to Oct. 26, the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council has its passenger riverboat, The Blackstone Valley Explorer, docked at the Woonsocket Landing for tours on the Blackstone River.
These Thundermist tours depart hourly between 1 and 3 p.m. from the landing, located in Market Square near the Museum of Work & Culture. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and children. A $1 discount is given to those with an admissions receipt from the museum. Reservations are recommended. Call 724-2200.
Free "Sundays on the River" sponsored by Citizens Bank will be held Sunday, Sept. 7, and Sunday, Oct. 12. No reservations will be taken for tours on these dates; tickets will be handed out on the day of the tour on a first-come, first-served basis.
Along this stretch of the Blackstone River, passengers will experience historical, architectural and scenic views between the Thundermist Dam and the state border at Blackstone, Mass., which will be highlighted with guided interpretation. In late September through October, the seasonal change brings colorful fall foliage along the river.
