PAWTUCKET - Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, in cooperation with the American Lung Association, will sponsor a workshop designed to educate and help people who want to quit smoking.
The course will be held at Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 16, 23, 30, and Oct. 2, 7, 14 and 21, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The program incorporates many well-known techniques, tools and tips, including a step-by-step behavior change approach to help people unlearn the automatic behavior of smoking.
The classes will help individuals to understand their personal smoking habits, increase and develop the personal motivation to quit, develop an individualized plan for quitting and learn maintenance skills to help smokers stay off cigarettes.
Class size is limited. The cost for the program is $75. Patients of Memorial's Family Medicine and Internal Medicine practices may be eligible to take the course at no charge.
