Ralph E. Olney Jr. - Scituate
Ralph E. Olney Jr., 79, of Central Pike, Scituate, an operating engineer for Local #57 before retiring, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at Rhode Island Hospital.

He was the husband of Marguerite E. (Sasso) Olney; they had been married for 56 years. Born in Providence, a son of the late Ralph E. and Madeline (Demars) Olney, he had been a resident of Scituate for 43 years and previously had lived in Johnston. He was a Little League coach for Johnston and Scituate and was active with Troop #1 Scituate. Besides his wife leaves his three children, Ralph E. Olney III of Spencerport, N.Y., Allan D. Olney of Oxford, Mass., and Lori A. Beaulieu of Pepperell, Mass.; three sisters, Dorothy Pogonowski of Coventry and Barbara Leclerc and Lorraine Dwoit, both of West Warwick; a brother, David Olney of Coventry; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

His funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the *Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Main Street, North Scituate. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
