LINCOLN - Robert and Jean Kay celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 21, with a party given by their family at Christ Church Parish Hall in Lincoln.
The couple was married on June 21, 1958, at Smithfield Avenue Congregational Church, in Pawtucket. The Rev. William H. Brittain officiated the ceremony. Mrs. Kay is the former Jean Mathieson.
Mr. and Mrs. Kay are the parents of Roberta Kay McLear and Joanne Kay Jourdan.
The are the grandparents of Casey McLear, Sarah McLear, Barrett Jourdan and Jacob Jourdan. All of Lincoln.
Mrs. Kay retired from the Pawtucket Water Supply Board as an administrative assistant, having completed 30 years with the city of Pawtucket. She has been actively involved in her church and community and currently serves as water commissioner in Lonsdale.
Mr. Kay retired from the state of Rhode Island Department of Transportation as a real estate specialist and is still active as an insurance and real estate agent. He owned Kay Insurance and Real Estate for many years. Mr. Kay also served in the Air Force for 4 years. He has been active in his church and community also, and is currently the junior warden at Christ Church in Lonsdale.
He is presently an appointed member of the State Property Committee. He is a past president of the Lincoln Town Council, Water Commission and Budget Board. He was a charter member and past president of the Cumberland and Lincoln Rotary Club, and a past president of the Pawtucket Jay-cees.
The couple enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, golfing and cheering on local sports teams.
