CUMBERLAND - Stephanie Lyn Marsland and Timothy Heaton VanDeventer exchanged wedding vows Sept. 8, 2007, at St. Patrick Church, in Cumberland. The ceremony was officiated by Monsignor Francis Strahan. A reception followed at the Newport Officer's Club.

Katie Marsland was the maid of honor for her sister. Bridesmaids were Cristie and Kari Beth Marsland, sisters of the bride, Kerri Capiette, cousin of the bride, and Elizabeth Wood.

Richard Thorne was the best man. Ushers were James Marsland III, brother of the bride, Anthony Morris, Joshua Bender and Sean Ryburn.

The bride received her bachelor of science degree in physical education from Plymouth State University in 2003 and is currently attending Connecticut State University for her master's degree in education. She is employed as a physical education and health teacher in Hartford, Conn.

The groom graduated from Norwich University in 2003, with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. He is employed as a Connecticut state trooper and is a captain in the Army National Guard in Springfield, Mass.

The couple makes their home in Berlin, Conn.
