Mr. and Mrs. Mercier married 60 years

OCALA, Fla. - Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Theresa Mercier, formerly of Cumberland, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 12, with a surprise party in their home given by their children. In April, they renewed their wedding vows during a Caribbean cruise.

They were married June 12, 1948, at St. Patrick Church, Cumberland. She is the former Theresa Parent.

Mr. Mercier retired from Texas Instruments in Attleboro, Mass., and is a Navy veteran of World War II.

Mrs. Mercier worked as a clerk at the former Ann & Hope store in Cumberland for many years before retiring and moving to Florida. She enjoys crafts and gardening.

They are the parents of Edward Mercier of Cranston, Linda Marchand of Attleboro, and Nancy Case of Ocala, Fla., and the grandparents of Edward Jr. and Kelly Mercier of Cranston, Christine Filosa of Plainville, Mass., Peter Marchand of Attleboro, and Jason and Heather Case of Ocala.

They have one great-grandchild, Leah Mercier of Cranston.
