SMITHFIELD - Girl Scout Troop 544 will be holding a book drive at Greenville Hardware, 635 Putnam Pike, on Saturday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The scouts are hoping to collect new or gently used books that can be donated to children under treatment at Hasbro Children's Hospital, Providence.

Free Girl Scout cookies will be offered as an enticement to bring your books in. Troop members can earn awards as well as provide books to hospitalized children, said troop leader Diane Maione.
